PRESS RELEASE Matrix MicroScience announces the expansion of its highly successful Pathatrix® technology into the Biothreat and Environmental Markets Matrix MicroScience of Newmarket UK, has announced that it is entering the Biothreat and Environmental monitoring markets with its novel Pathatrix® technology. Pathatrix was developed initially for the rapid detection of pathogens in food and has been adopted by a number of the worlds largest food companies such as Kraft Foods. The Pathatrix system can be used to detect a range of routine Pathogens such as Salmonella, Listeria, E.coli O157 etc in food, but has also been shown to be effective for the capture of viruses such as Hepatitis A and Noroviruses. The recent launch of the mini-ULTRA, a fully enclosed consumable that runs on the Pathatrix, at the ASM Biodefense meeting has enabled Matrix to capitalise on the successful use of the system to detect Biothreat agents such as Yersinia Pestis (plague bacteria) that was also reported on by FDA researchers at the same meeting. Matrix is already working with key government and military organisations in North America in the Food Biothreat sector, but will be expanding this to all areas of Biothreat detection i.e. air, water, soil, blood, etc In addition Matrix will be applying the Pathatrix technology into the Environmental monitoring areas for detection of bacteria and viruses in air, soil, water. In particular Matrix will be looking at the detection of Legionella in cooling towers, hot water systems etc. Dr Adrian Parton, C.E.O. Matrix commented "This is a natural extension of our innovative products into the biothreat and environmental sectors where customers face the same issue as food, trying to find the needle in the haystack. Our successful work with FDA in looking for biothreat agents in food gives us a high degree of confidence that we can apply this successfully to a whole range of environmental samples" Contact DetailsDr Adrian Parton Matrix MicroScience Ltd Lynx Business Park Fordham Road Newmarket Cambridgeshire CB8 7NY UK Tel: +44 (0)1638 723110 Fax : +44 (0)1638 723111 For further information on this exciting new development contact us on info@matrixmsci.com Back |
